Cantharis Alpacas aims to provide you with an unforgettable friendly and safe experience when interacting with our alpaca herd. However, given you will be on a working farm, there will be certain risks associated with your visit. We require you to read and accept the following conditions for your group before booking:

You will be walking on our alpaca farm, which has a hilly contour and may have uneven walking surfaces. We require you to stay on the indicated walking track, take care of where you walk, and take responsibility for avoiding (dead) tree trunks, slippery tree roots, scattered branches and potential holes in the ground.

Given the contour of the land and that the track may be slippery after wet weather conditions, we require you to wear appropriate footwear with good profile, ideally gumboots (wet grass) or good walking/tramping boots. We reserve the right to refuse access to our property in case we consider the footwear inappropriate for the farm visit.

You will be appropriately prepared for the weather conditions. We will be walking to the top of our property which may be exposed to strong winds.

While our alpacas have a calm and gentle nature, there may be occasions that they will spit, kick or pull. Although spitting is more a nuisance than a safety risk, kicking may be hurtful and risky to little children. We therefore require that children are always supervised by adults. We further require that you are prepared for the alpaca to pull the leash unexpectedly. You will be prepared, under all circumstances, to let the leash go and so that you cannot be brought out of balance.

The character and approach ability of our alpacas is a result of our care and interaction with the animals. We require you to also respect our animals. Loud screaming and running, or any other provocation or teasing, is not allowed as this may upset the alpacas and may result in their unpredictable behavior. In case of any non-compliance you may be asked to leave the farm.

When feeding the alpacas you may feel intimated by their presence and enthusiasm. When not feeling comfortable, we expect you to stand behind the fence and approach the animals from here. Children are NOT allowed to mingle between the alpacas during feeding given the risks of being kicked, and are only allowed to feed the alpacas from behind the fence.

As you will be visiting a private farm, we do not allow you to stroll around our farm and private areas uninvited or unsupervised.
